The shared math

Most loose materials on this page run through one volume engine: area times depth gives cubic feet, divided by 27 gives cubic yards, and a settle factor accounts for material compacting after delivery. Each calculator page shows its own constants, because a bag of topsoil and a pallet of sod are sold in different units and vary by supplier.
